📣 We are delighted to say that we have a new training course coming up next month!

📅 Monday 6th November - Friday 10th November
📍 The Royal Albert Dock

This week-long course will enable unemployed young people aged 18-24 in the Liverpool City Region to feel better placed to enter the workplace.

Our training will focus on hospitality and tourism with insights into different careers in these sectors (with talks from other sectors too!). The course will include activities and training such as career talks from industry leaders and skills-based workshops to build CVs and Cover Letters. It will also involve practical learning such as mock interviews.

Please share our poster (below) with your networks so that we can reach as many young people as possible who could benefit from this short course. We would also like to reach as many Royal Albert Dock businesses and other organisations outside the dock as we can. This is so we can introduce our cohort to a wide range of businesses and careers.

If you are someone who is interested in taking part in this training or knows someone who might, please contact our Project Coordinator Caitlin for more information and to receive our application pack.

If you are a business or organisation that would like to offer some time to speak to students or be involved in some other way please contact our Operations Manager Jess.

We are looking for volunteers to help the charity with our social media presence!

Over the last year we have grown our online presence by creating new accounts on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, but we would love to grow these even more. We would like to show more people what we do for young people in the Liverpool City Region and how we work with businesses on the dock to support them in their training for the workplace.

We are looking for people who have some skills in content creation to help us with creating video and written content for our social media channels and website. You don't need to be a social media expert to apply, we are looking for people who are willing to have a go and who would like to help us design some new content. This opportunity is perfect for creative people who would like to get some work experience in using social media or the non-profit sector.

Please have a read of the role description for more information. If you would like to apply or would like more information please get in touch with us at jessica.brandwood@albertdock.com

Calling all Liverpool City Region teachers! …..

If you are a teacher in the Liverpool City Region we would like to invite you to our evening walking tour of the Royal Albert Dock. We would love to show you what we at the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool Charitable Foundation are all about and what we can offer you and your students.

Our educational careers tours of the Albert Dock are one of our main projects. We work with a local tour guide who does a historical tour of the dock. Whilst touring the dock we arrange with some of the businesses to provide 10–15-minute talks about their business and the various jobs that are involved in the day-to-day running of the business. These tours aim to introduce young people to the world of work and the many career paths that are available once they leave education.

We would like for you to experience the tour for yourselves and see how we can adapt it for a range of different students and subjects.

Perfect for students 16 plus who are studying history, art, business studies, and travel and tourism but if you think we could work together let us know!

Get in touch with us on any of our social media or email us at jessica.brandwood@albertdock.com if you would like any more information.

Spaces are limited to educators who work with KS4/5 and college students and also 2 per school.

Our newsletter has a brand new look!

Please have a read below about what we have been up to throughout the first half of 2023. We have been out and about on the Royal Albert Dock with lots of young people of the Liverpool City Region. Our adventures include visiting lots of dock businesses, all with the aim of educating young people about the world of work. Have a read to see who has supported us with our work recently!

Last week we had a group of students visit us at the dock as part of their Independent Travel Training. After a talk about the video game industry by Ali from Avalanche, who have an office on the Royal Albert Dock, and a show around the Holiday Inn Express we sent them out onto the dock!

While out walking around the dock the group were tasked with completing our Eurovision themed Albert Dock Quiz!
