The Royal Albert Dock Liverpool Charitable Foundation officially launched its new Career Walking Tours Plus programme in December 2024, welcoming students from Bank View School to take part in the first funded session.
On Wednesday 4th December, the group began their experience with one of our usual Career Walking Tours, led by Charley from Livertours Liverpool, visiting a range of Royal Albert Dock businesses and meeting professionals across different sectors.
The students visited Port Noir Tattoo, where they heard from owner Simona about running a creative business and working in the tattoo industry. They then attended a session at Clockwise Liverpool with Adam, Director of Big Egg Films, who spoke about working in film and creative production. The group also visited Revolución de Cuba Liverpool, where they met members of the sales team, Rhe and Amber, who shared insights into careers within hospitality and customer service.
Following the walking tour, students took a break for lunch before continuing their learning at the Holiday Inn Express Liverpool – Albert Dock conference space. Here, they took part in a get-to-know-you session alongside a quiz focused on the history of the Royal Albert Dock, helping to build teamwork and deepen their understanding of the local area.
As part of the Career Walking Tours Plus programme, students were also given worksheets to take away and complete ahead of their next session.
This first session marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the programme, combining workplace experiences with structured employability learning to give young people a richer and more sustained introduction to future career pathways.
We look forward to welcoming Bank View School back next year for more sessions and welcoming another group to the dock to be part of the programme from Riverside College.
