The Royal Albert Dock Liverpool Charitable Foundation has continued to deliver its funded Career Walking Tours Plus programme throughout early 2025, welcoming new and returning groups of young people for a series of engaging career-focused sessions.
On Thursday 30th January 2025, students from Riverside College joined us for their first Career Walking Tours Plus session.
The group began with one of our guided walking tours led by Charley from Livertours Liverpool, visiting a range of employers across the Royal Albert Dock. Students then enjoyed a tour of the Holiday Inn Express Liverpool – Albert Dock with General Manager (and chair of trustees!) Helen, where they learned about the wide variety of roles within the hotel industry.
The visit also included a session with Katherine at The Nest, as well as time with the team at The Beatles Story, where students heard about different career pathways within the attraction and visitor experience sector.
To support their ongoing learning, students took away worksheets linked to their visit, which will be used in future sessions as part of the AQA Unit Award Scheme, helping to evidence their progress and learning outcomes.
On Thursday 27th February 2025, students from Bank View School returned for their second Career Walking Tours Plus session, spending the day with us from 10am to 2pm.
Students took part in a careers and history scavenger hunt at the Museum of Liverpool. They spoke with staff, explored career pathways within the museum sector, and used exhibits to uncover key facts about Liverpool’s history.
The day also included a two-hour soft skills workshop delivered by Caitlin, focused on communication, teamwork and confidence-building through practical group activities. The students engaged fully and took part enthusiastically throughout the session.
These sessions continue to build on the aims of the Career Walking Tours Plus programme by combining real-world workplace experiences with structured employability learning. Students are able to develop key skills, explore a variety of career pathways, and build confidence through hands-on engagement with employers across the Royal Albert Dock.
