Riverside College Complete Career Walking Tours Plus Programme
Students from Riverside College recently completed their final sessions as part of the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool Charitable Foundation’s Career Walking Tours Plus programme.
Developing Employability Skills
On Thursday 17th March 2025, the group returned to the Dock for their second visit, beginning the day with an employability skills workshop delivered by Caitlin in the conference facilities at the Holiday Inn Expresss.
The interactive session focused on developing an understanding of both soft and hard skills through teamwork and group activities. Students then took part in the Albert Dock Career Treasure Hunt, which encouraged them to speak directly with businesses across the Dock, ask questions about different roles, and build confidence communicating in workplace environments.
The activity helped students explore how different skills are used across a variety of industries while also developing their confidence and teamwork abilities.
Final Session Focuses on Hospitality Careers
On Thursday 1st May 2025, Riverside College students returned for their final session of the programme.
The morning workshop at the Holiday Inn Express continued to build on employability themes, focusing on workplace scenarios, communication skills and the qualities needed for different hospitality roles. Students explored how soft and hard skills apply within restaurant environments and reflected on the experiences from their previous sessions.

In the afternoon, students took part in practical hospitality-based activities at Revolution Liverpool Albert Dock and Revolución de Cuba Liverpool. Sessions included pizza-making and mocktail-making workshops, giving students hands-on insight into careers within the hospitality industry.
The activities were supported by Rhe, Business Development Manager at Revolución de Cuba, who helped facilitate the afternoon and spoke with students about working within the sector. Thank you to Rhe for her support in organising and facilitating the session!
Looking Ahead
The Career Walking Tours Plus programme will continue in June, when students from Bank View School return for their third session, following a similar programme of employability workshops and practical workplace experiences across the Royal Albert Dock.
